The AI Trip Planner War is on

AI has been all the rage for about two years now. But in that time, how much progress did we make?

Welcome back to another edition of The Hotel Hype. This week I received an email from booking.com about their new AI trip planner.

I thought it would be interesting to have a look at a few of the offerings available and see if they are useful yet.

Let’s get started!

AI has been all the rage for about two years now. But in that time, how much progress did we make?

To me, there is still a lot of talk about the "potential" of AI trip planners, but no big success stories.

Yes... I am aware it is still early days but I think it would be good to see where we are at today and think about where things might go in the future.

Then in a few years, we can look back at this post and see how archaic AI trip planners used to be way back in 2024...

So who has a trip planner?

I am going to be honest, there are loads of trip planners popping up. This isn't an exhaustive list of what is available.

For this, I am going to have a look at the OTAs to see how they are fairing.

In another edition, I'll look at the niche AI startups taking on the travel space with their planners.

So the first one I will look at is the planner from booking.com. It is catchily called, AI Trip Planner and is available on their app.

The other one I will look at is Trip Genie in the Trip.com app. Trip have been growing at a fair pace in the last few years outside of China and AI is a huge push for them.

Do they work?
