Marketing Lessons From Outside Hospitality

How does marketing a hotel compare to marketing an iPhone, a coffee or a new car? Let's have a deep dive into this week's post.

What can hotel marketers learn from outside our industry?

Welcome to the second edition of The Hotel Hype. Thank you to all of you who have joined so far!

So let’s dive in…

Last week I was down at the Digital Commerce Expo at the Excel in London.

I was speaking about updating legacy systems to meet consumer demands.

Usually, I speak at hospitality and travel-specific conferences so it made a nice change to be at a non-industry-specific digital marketing/e-commerce conference.

I think we can often become a bit too obsessed with what the OTAs and our competitors are doing. Maybe the inspiration we need is in a completely different vertical.

I thought it would be useful to break down some of the key topics and trends that I came across. I will also give an insight as to how they could be used in hospitality.

There were plenty of things to see at the Digital Commerce Expo so let’s jump in.

Matheus Guimaraes did a great talk about the history of AI so far.
