Yes… the trusty old email.

Even though emails may have been invented way back in 1971! They are still the best way to contact customers without any middlemen.

(More about that pesky Google Tax another day…)

Email today still delivers a consistently high ROI. It is reported to be on average 36:1.

That is £36 back for every £1 invested. What a deal!

This is down to a few reasons:

  1. Email is cheap to deliver. Because it has been around for a long time, there are plenty of providers to choose from (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Beehivv and many more).

  2. The receivers are already aware of you. For you to be able to send email marketing to someone, they have had to give you the email and the relevant marketing permissions. So someone receiving an email is very different from seeing your Facebook ad for the first time.

  3. It has good visibility. On social media, most people don’t see your posts anymore. Even though some emails go into the junk folder, you are still getting far better coverage on average than most channels.

So if email is so effective, why is it often overlooked?

There are normally two main suspects.

Marketers are either

A) too busy so they don’t get around to it

OR

B) have a small database so don’t think it is worth the effort

These are ridiculous reasons not to get started. Think of the upsides!
